Monogramming is a practice that can be associated back to the Roman and Greek times. During this era monogramming was used as a royal signature or in currency to indicate a certain ruler. Monogramming was also used during the Dark Ages since artisans used them to mark their work. However, most people think of the Victorian age when talking about monogramming. In the Victorian age, monogramming was a symbol of aristocracy and was imprinted on cutlery, linens and several other household items. Today, we use monogramming in a more general form in times such as blankets to table cloths. Even though the single and double initial monograms are widely accepted, it is the Victorian three initial monograms that are still standard today. A three initial monogram includes your first name initial on the left, middle name initial on the right and last name initial on the center in larger font. Although monograms were used in a very strict way back in the Victorian age, today they can be displayed in millions of ways.
